History: Originally built for James E. Doane, Chicago, who sailed her on the Great Lakes for probably 20 years. The vessel came back to California in 1981 and had three more owners before the present owner. Reportedly sailed around the South Pacific and Hawaii. Former names: "Ingen", "Flame", "Homer". History: Brother Don purchased the boat in Hawaii from Wescot in 1973 {Peggy Slater sold it to Dick Wescot in 1970) .Don & I sailed the Hale from Hawaii to Port Angeles Washington in 1975. Don Sailed back to Hawaii in 1978 and then back to Washington in 1980, where the boat was kept until I aquired her in 1996. We sailed her down to San Pedro in July 1996. Aquired from Brother Don in 1994. Don had owned her from 1973. Previously, Jim had owned K-38 FANDANGO (previously named ZEPHYR). Went through frame replacement (53) below waterline 7 planks, splined top to bottom,with major help from Boatswain Wayne Ettle Nov. 2003. Moved to Port Angeles, Washington Oct. 2006. History: Sold by Marty Gleich to John Cazier (June-'67) to David Hop (August '74) to Arthur Hamburger (?) to Jerome Brady (July '76) to Jack Brady (July 77). I became 50/50 partners with Jack in 1978 and have owned the boat continuously since that time. The interior is essentially as original except for Groco head replacement, the addition of a holding tank and a teak/holly sole. The Gray Marine engine died and was replaced with a Volvo Penta. The only other changes from the original boat is the addition of roller furling jib, replacing aft winches with Lewmar 2 speeds, easy jacks for the main and adding radar.
